Kali Linux is a fantastic pentesting tool, and the successor to Backtrack. Avid users of Kali will notice straight away that the VPN function is grayed out by default. Having VPN disabled is no fun, especially when you need to bypass certain geolocation restrictions. Let's fix that! Enter the following commands in your terminal:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install network-manager-pptp
# apt-get install network-manager-pptp-gnome

Alternatively, you may use

# apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
# apt-get install network-manager-openvpn-gnome
# apt-get install network-manager-pptp
# apt-get install network-manager-pptp-gnome
# apt-get install network-manager-strongswan
# apt-get install network-manager-vpnc
# apt-get install network-manager-vpnc-gnome

After installing the packages, VPN functions will be enabled within Kali Linux. Enjoy, and use responsibly.
