Old Women in Cars and NCAA Madness
I do not like this trend. I'm watching NCAA's March Madness and cannot escape the constant advertisements featuring elderly people complaining in a vehicle. I get it, elderly people are out of touch and old and hahahah I'll totally buy your product because I'm not old and stupid like those people!
And then I'm watching Shaq be deliberately annoying. I don't watch many commercials nowadays, but the ones I do see all seem to be vying for the title of "Most Annoying On Purpose" (MAOP).
MAoP Scale (NCAA March Madness)
|Shaq Imitating a Horse||7||Funny the first time, now I hate Shaq.|
Old Women Yelling "It's ON"
|9||Really goddamn annoying. It's ON MARY. IT'S ON. DIESELS ARE QUIET BUY THIS ONE IT'S ON MARY|
|Oreo Rap||4||Love it. Great typography.|
|Coke Fizzing Commercial||2||Coke has indoctrinated me, I love hearing the fizz.|
Other NCAA Observations:
The app is very well done. I'm watching it with uBlock enabled, so I miss most of the inline ads, but the functionality is superb.
Switching between games is possible, just disabled via a couple injected divs. Also, volume controls are disabled during ad breaks - if you want to turn down the volume, you better have the foresight to mute the volume before going to commercial.
You can remove the TV timeout banner by deleting the following (enable Chrome Web Developer Console with Ctrl + Shift + I)
<div id="ad-lock" style="opacity: 0; display: none;"> <div class="title"> TV Timeout </div> <div class="subhead"> The action will return shortly </div> </div>
Being able to swap between the different games is terrific. The announcers are sometimes odd to listen to as they salivate over 18 year olds.
I love that "physicality" is a shorthand term for "got elbowed in the gut" or "gets feet stomped every possession."
These guys need an album cover
